Signs of Communication Breakdown:

1. Whenever you talk to your spouse you get frustrated.

2. You have to show them what you mean in other ways because they cannot understand what you are saying.

3. You don't talk to your spouse.

4. You don't listen to your spouse.

Real Life Sample Scenario

Wife: Honey I need to go run to the store and buy a poster board for J.J.’s science fair tonight. I’m going to take your car. Is that Okay? The store closes in fifteen minutes I better hurry.

Husband: My car is on empty.

Wife: My car is on empty too.

Husband: I’m going to put gas in the car and I’ll be right back.

(husband drives up in wife’s car ten minutes later with gas tank full)

Wife: Why did you put gas in my car? (wife is standing on front porch)

Husband: You told me too.

Wife: I did not. I wanted to drive your car. I told you that. My car’s been smoking all day and the fan belt squeals. Now I’m going to be late going to the store and I have to drive a smoking car because your tank is on empty.


Okay communications specialists. Explain this one?
